SMS Messaging Policy
This policy explains how MinuteLead uses SMS messaging as part of our lead communication service, what messages your leads can expect to receive, and how to opt out.
1. How We Use SMS
MinuteLead is an SMS-first communication platform built for service businesses that run on inbound phone calls. When a call goes unanswered, our system automatically sends an SMS on your behalf — keeping the lead warm and initiating a qualification conversation by text.
All SMS messages are sent using your own business phone number, in a tone and style you approve during onboarding. Your customers are always communicating with your business — MinuteLead runs the system behind the scenes.
2. Message Types
Depending on your plan, your leads may receive the following automated messages:
- Missed-call text-back: An immediate response sent within 60 seconds of a missed call
- Qualification messages: Automated questions collecting service type, urgency, and location
- Booking link: A self-schedule link sent once the lead has been qualified
- Appointment confirmation: A confirmation message once the booking is made
- Appointment reminders: Automated reminders sent before the scheduled job
- Follow-up sequences: Multi-touch messages nudging unbooked leads over several days
- Re-engagement sequences: Win-back messages for leads that went cold (Growth plan)
- Review requests: A post-job message requesting a Google review
3. Volume & Frequency
Message frequency depends on your plan and the volume of inbound calls your business receives:
- Essential ($397/mo): Up to 150 lead interactions per month — each interaction includes the full text-back, qualification, booking, and follow-up sequence for one lead
- Growth ($697/mo): Unlimited lead interactions, with extended re-engagement sequences and custom routing for up to 3 locations
Individual leads may receive between 1 and 10+ messages depending on how the conversation progresses and whether they book, respond, or remain unresponsive.
For businesses with 4 or more locations, please contact us for a custom plan.
4. Consent
MinuteLead's missed-call text-back service operates on the basis of implied consent — a person who calls a business phone number has initiated contact and has a reasonable expectation that the business may respond, including by SMS.
For any additional marketing or re-engagement messages beyond the immediate missed-call response, we recommend that your business ensure it has obtained appropriate consent in accordance with CASL and applicable regulations.
You are responsible for ensuring that your use of MinuteLead's services complies with the consent requirements applicable in your jurisdiction.
5. Opting Out
Any recipient of an automated SMS sent through MinuteLead can opt out at any time:
Reply STOP to any message to immediately unsubscribe from all future automated messages from that business number.
Reply HELP to receive contact information for the business.
Opt-out requests are processed immediately and automatically. Once a contact opts out, no further automated messages will be sent to that number.
6. Message & Data Rates
Standard message and data rates may apply depending on the recipient's mobile carrier and plan. MinuteLead does not charge recipients for receiving messages — any carrier fees are between the recipient and their carrier.
7. Your Business Number
All automated messages are sent using a dedicated phone number assigned to your business during onboarding. This number is provisioned specifically for your account and used exclusively for your business communications.
Your leads will see your business name and a consistent number — not a generic short code or shared number. This helps build trust and ensures your brand is represented correctly in every message.
8. CASL Compliance
MinuteLead operates in Canada and adheres to Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). We only facilitate the sending of commercial electronic messages where express or implied consent exists.
As a client, you are also considered a sender under CASL for messages sent on your behalf. You agree to use our services only in ways that comply with CASL and all other applicable laws. MinuteLead is not responsible for client misuse of the service in violation of applicable legislation.
